Kevin Rushbys film Saving the Leopard for Al Jazeera English was aired for the first time on 19 April 2011, and has received widespread accolades. The film follows members of the Foundation for the Protection of the Arabian Leopard in Yemen as they travel to Oman for a week of training in Leopard field research. This collaboration of Oman's Arabian Leopard Survey and the Foundation represents a landmark in cooperation between these two key range states for the in-situ conservation of the Critically Endangered Arabian Leopard Panthera pardus nimr. The training was conducted by Omani Leopard expert Khaled Al-Hikmani, and has built crucial capacity in Leopard conservation in a country where it is sorely needed.
Five Yemenis, Swiss volunteer Malini Pittet, and the Foundation's Executive Director David Stanton were given multiple opportunities to examine Leopard sign in the field. As a direct result of the training the Foundation has succeeded in taking the first photographs of wild Arabian Leopards in Yemen.
